Casino Gambling in America

Casinos are as varied and unique as the human fingerprint. Each offers something for everyone. From the brightly glowing and intricately designed neon lights to the truly spectacular and grand construction of the mega casinos, the atmosphere they evoke is one of glitz and glamor. Therefore, it is not surprising to know that more and more are casinos are being built.

For most Americans, Las Vegas comes into mind when the words casino gambling are mentioned. This piece of Nevada real estate is packed full of casinos so close to each other, and so numerous in numbers that the casual casino goers would be hard pressed not to find one that would fit their needs.

Because of this prevalent attitude that a lot of Americans are accustomed to, it is easy to forget that Las Vegas isn't the only place where casinos are located at. True, Las Vegas is an established power house when it comes to casino gambling, but the whole American landscape nowadays seems to be dotted with casinos that offer as much - if not more - entertainment that Vegas casinos can offer.

A contender for the title of Gambling Capital of the World would be Atlantic City. This city in New Jersey has a well established casino community and gambling industry since the year 1978. Riverboat casinos have also made their mark in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri and Mississippi.

Specialized casinos such as those that are made up only of slot machines are in the works in the state of Pennsylvania, awaiting their final approval. The states of South Dakota and Colorado are home to low limit casinos. Native American casinos also have sprung forth in a lot of American states, further proof of the rising popularity of casinos and gambling in the US.

Casinos built by Native Americans or those constructed on their lands can be found in the states of California, Connecticut, Iowa, Florida, New Mexico, Washington, South Dakota, Oregon, Wisconsin, New York, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota and Louisiana to name a few.

A staggering figure of 319 million casino visits by casino goers in the US was recorded during 2004. This figure dwarfed the number of people who visited professional sporting events. Even the favorite American sporting events of Baseball, Basketball and Football games cannot compete with the rising popularity of casinos and what they offer.

The statistics mentioned above are a testament to the growing heights that casinos in America have attained. Casino patrons come from all walks of life. Old or young, rich or poor, whoever they may be, casinos in the US can give them all the entertainment they need.
